Dr Sr Tham is the founder and managing partner of MV Valuers & Estate Agent. He holds a PhD in Real Estate Finance from the University of Malaya and is a registered Valuer, Property Manager & Estate Agent in Malaysia. Additionally, he is a licensed auctioneer in the States of Perak, Melaka, Selangor, and Penang. Dr Sr Tham commenced his real estate career in 2011 and has undertaken numerous complex valuations and property consultancy assignments. He has been appointed as an expert witness in high-profile litigation cases under the High Court of Malaya, involving assets valued at hundreds of millions of ringgit. These cases have encompassed claims, compensation, loss of income, damages, and other valuation bases for real property, plant and machinery, software, businesses (shares), intellectual property, and other intangible assets. Dr Sr Tham is widely recognized as a leading expert in forensic valuation and litigation-related valuations for numerous high-profile litigation cases. Moreover, Dr Sr Tham has been engaged by public listed companies and professional institutions to provide valuations, property consultancy services, auctions, research, and seminars. This includes Luminor Capital Singapore Ltd, Alliance Bank Berhad, Real Estate Housing Developers Association (REHDA), Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM), Genting Group Berhad, EcoWorld Berhad, High Court of Malaya, District Land Offices, Resorts World Singapore, Buler Engineering Group, MBSB, Maybank, Public Bank, Standard Chartered, AmBank, CIMB, Capitaland Group, Jabatan Warisan Negara, State Government of Perak, and Gombak Geopark Bhd. Throughout his career, Dr Sr Tham has amassed extensive experience in valuations of businesses, assets, and complex machinery for corporate transactions involving public listed companies. These transactions have ranged from prime commercial properties to large industrial factories and oil palm estates, for purposes such as mergers & acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures, or expert witness testimonies in High Court litigation cases. Presently, Dr Sr Tham is highly sought after as a valuation expert for complicated valuations related to tangible and intangible assets, including businesses, loss of income, complex compensations, intellectual property, specialized assets, plant and machinery, development land, and all types of tangible and intangible assets.

Dr Sr Tham is also the recipient of Khazanah Nasional Berhad’s PhD Grant to pursue his PhD in Real Estate Finance at the University of Malaya, where he was awarded a fast-track route without a Master’s Degree. He duly completed the program and received the PhD award from the Chancellor of the University of Malaya, DYMM Sultan Nazrin Shah of Perak. Dr Sr Tham has served as an Adjunct and Assistant Professor in several Malaysian Universities. Additionally, he has also been appointed as an expert reviewer for the International Journal of Housing Markets & Analysis (WoS & Scopus Indexed Journal) in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Dr Sr Tham has also been appointed as the principal investigator and recipient of the Federal Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) by the Unit of Higher Academic Excellence, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, to provide research and policy recommendations in property finance-related matters. He has also served as a consultant for the Council of Auctioneers Malaysia, contributing to the drafting of regulations for auctioneers submitted to the Attorney Chambers of Malaysia.

In 2016, Dr Sr Tham was honoured with the prestigious Royal Education Award (Pingat Jaya Cemerlang) from the Rulers’ Conference of Malaysia (Majlis Raja-Raja), personally bestowed by the Sultan of Perak, who is also the Chancellor for University of Malaya in 2016. Dr Sr Tham is a Board Member of the Malaysian Council of Auctioneers, a member of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI), Pacific Rim Real Estate Society (PRRES), European Real Estate Soceity (ERES) and the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM).
